Follow the daring ‘Sofa to Sailboat’ expedition as they aim to raise £100,000 for charity by sailing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic in a tiny upcycled boat.

“Have you heard of the ‘Sofa to Sailboat’ challenge? Two brave adventurers will cross the Atlantic Ocean in a tiny, 50-year-old upcycled sailboat named Poppet. The 3,000-mile journey from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean is set to depart in December 2024. This adventure is not only about exploration; it’s a mission to raise £100,000 for four important charities: Macmillan Cancer Support, Mind, MS-UK, and St Helena Hospice.”

The crew, consisting of John-Kenneth D. Habbershaw, a seasoned Marine Surveyor and Marine Electrician, and Farris Collins, a former Team GB Powerlifter with no prior sailing experience, will navigate the Atlantic using only wind and solar power. Their journey symbolises a significant leap from the comfort of a sofa to the challenges of open-sea adventure, all while promoting sustainability and the responsible use of our oceans.
