The Challenge:

Aiming to refine the media and speaker training for its senior leadership team, the client reached out to Wake Media to provide bespoke sessions on leadership media training. Working with the Wake Media team and corporate communications specialist partner, Speed Communications developed a bespoke modular training programme for the client that comprised three core pillars: building speaker prowess, mastering the media and enhancing presentation impact.

Our Approach:

To ensure that the media training programme was tailored to each individual in the client’s leadership team, Speed ran a 1:1 familiarisation session with each trainee. The aim of these sessions was to understand the level of media experience each individual held, particularly in relation to speaking in different formats i.e., panel discussions, keynotes and sales meetings.

Using the insights gained, bespoke half-day training sessions were then developed for each member of the client’s leadership team. The training sessions were run by an ex-broadcast journalist and experienced media trainer.  A senior member of the Speed team was also present to provide an intimate and fully dedicated learning process for each individual.

Impact:

In total, eight 1:1 training sessions were delivered to the client’s leadership team over a six week period. For each individual, a training summary was shared as a follow-up action, in addition to recordings of their mock media interviews and suggestions for future focus areas. A master report covering message delivery and presentation skills was also developed and supplied to the client’s marketing team.
